What do you think of when you think of the city of Bath? Most people think of the Roman baths, beautiful Pulteney bridge and the Royal Crescent. Many people would think of Jane Austen and the Georgian architecture of the city. However, there is much more to Bath that this - after five years of living in the city I feel I can say that, with 100% certainty, there is something in Bath for everyone! If you are looking for the less 'run of the mill' activities and instead the more unusual things to do in Bath, then look no further. From brewery tours to stand-up paddleboarding on the River Avon, you are sure to find something to enjoy!
The resounding question that I've been asked when I said I had just got back from Sweden was, "oh, did you go to Stockholm?"No! (Although I have been to Stockholm before.) There is more to Sweden than just Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden's second-largest city, is definitely a place that deserves more visitors!Gothenburg, or Göteborg (yur-te-borry) in Swedish, is a city of delicious food, buzzing café culture and a love of microbreweries and craft beer. While not as "glamorous" as it's big sister Stockholm, the industrial port city of Gothenburg is definitely a place that a visitor to Sweden shouldn't miss.
Lithuania is a small (ish) country in the Baltic region of Europe and is where my family originally hails from. I have always been surprised at how little people know of Lithuania (and the amount of people who have no idea where it is) and most people tend to just think of it as 'one of those countries above Poland' or 'one of the ones that used to be in the USSR'. I mean, this is accurate (it is north-east of Poland and it WAS part of the USSR from 1940 to 1991) but Lithuania has so much more to its history, culture and identity. One of these amazing things is their food. I love trying local foods wherever I travel and Lithuania did not let me down!
Iceland - the land of ice and fire - is an incredibly beautiful country and has been steadily gaining popularity over the past few years (no doubt helped a fair amount by its use as a location for filming in Game of Thrones). With thundering waterfalls, scenic national parks and magical geothermal spas, Iceland is a not-to-be-missed destination and with IcelandAir and WowAir opening up new routes and providing amazing stopover opportunities, the small Nordic island is now easier (and cheaper) to visit - even if you only get 48 hours in Iceland!
Now I will begin this post by saying this is by no means an exhaustive list. Berlin is an incredible mixing pot of amazing coffee and great beer from all around the world, plus a foodie's paradise. Hopefully this article will help you experience some of the best coffee and beer in Berlin!
