Woohoo, it's that time of year again! Prime Day is here and there are some epic deals occurring on the almighty Amazon. Prime Day is a great day to purchase items that you have been wanting for a while but didn't want to buy at full price or to find items you never realised you needed
and probably don't anyway and to get them at a bargain. There are lots of great travel deals on Prime Day, including heavily discounted luggage, cameras, SD cards, headphones and power banks.I have split this guide into two halves - one half dedicated to Prime Day UK and one half dedicated to Prime Day US as not all the deals are the same. Scroll down to UK or US depending on your location and happy shopping!Prime Day US deals coming soon!
Some apps are completely pointless and are just for wasting time, procrastinating, or those ones that look great and you download them and never ever use them. Other apps are amazing, take the hassle out of your travels and you'll swear by them to anyone who will listen. The second category of app is what I'm going to talk about today!I'm one of those people that has an app for everything. One of my friends will say, "oh I wish there was an app that did such-and-such" and I'm always the one to jump in and be all "there's one for that!" and tell them what it's called, how awesome it is, and how often I use it.So here is a list of my favourite go-to apps for travel. I'm not listing any for finding flights as that will be a separate article altogether!

Learn the Lingo or "why learning a few simple phrases can improve your travel experiences for the better".
Thank you to Steven of QuinlanES for this great guest post about why learning a bit of the language when you travel somewhere can really make your trip! Connect with him on his Facebook page here!Everyone loves the Netherlands.Well, let’s be honest, most people really only know it by reputation and even then only really know Amsterdam by reputation. You never hear anyone say, ‘Gee, I know, let’s visit the Afsluitdijk (literally the ‘closing off dike’), a twenty-mile long causeway that separated the North sea from what was once the South sea, and is now Holland’s largest interior lake.[caption id="attachment_1696" align="aligncenter" width="677"] Source: wadvaarders.nl[/caption]And when you get right down to it, that’s not a problem unique to the Netherlands. There are plenty of countries that are known primarily for a single touristy place, usually with a catchy theme. Vegas, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Amsterdam.A large part of the reason for that is that unless you’re willing to learn the local language you are pretty much limited to the places where you can make yourself understood. The amazing local sights, the restaurants that aren’t on the tourist maps, and the little secrets and nooks and crannies that make up the most interesting stories can usually only be found off the beaten track, and that almost requires the ability to speak to the locals.
