Well, I'm exhausted. In the last 24 hours I have travelled from Paderborn, through Bielefeld, Hanover and Berlin, had a two-hour stopover in Berlin, through Dresden and Prague and now I'm waiting in Vienna Hauptbahnhof for a train to finally
Good evening travellers! (Or good morning/afternoon/night, depending where you are in the world). I am currently writing this while sat in the bar/lounge area of my hostel in Bucharest and am enjoying being out of the cold for a few hours...On Wednesday, I left my home-of-the-last-five-months (Austria) and started my journey to Bucharest. I knew I had to be here by Sunday, but the question was where to visit on the way!As someone who often likes to check where they can fly to for low prices, I had often seen Skopje come up and had checked it out on Google. I loved it! The architecture, the history, and - the icing on the cake - a budget destination. Skopje was a little bit of a detour (and not really the most logical route) on the way to Bucharest, but I had made up my mind.To Skopje I would go!
On my rather lengthy journey to Bucharest from Austria, I made a stop in Sofia.Unfortunately, due to a delay in leaving Austria, I only got the opportunity to spend one night there which meant my entire stay in Sofia totalled less than 12 hours. However, from my (short) stay in the country, I know I want to go back.To read more about underrated destinations that should be on your bucket list, check out my round-up of top off-the-beaten-path destinations for 2016 and for 2017!

Austria is well-known as a top destination for snow sports and is the winter sports capital of Europe, and is also famous for being a country where the hills are alive with The Sound of Music. If it's good enough for Julie Andrews, it's good enough for me. Austria is landlocked and bordered by Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. With its prime location and incredible scenery, it is a perfect place to visit when doing a trip to Europe, especially if you're coming from Prague!Vienna is one of my favourite cities in Europe - don't miss out on it!
I was recently in Oslo for a long weekend with my parents and it has simply made me want to see the rest of Norway SO BAD. I'd seen some photos on Instagram before (Lofoten - so much wanderlust oh my), but after being in Oslo I followed quite a few accounts and WOW. Simply WOW.Here are a few to tempt you...

Iceland - the land of ice and fire - is an incredibly beautiful country and has been steadily gaining popularity over the past few years (no doubt helped a fair amount by its use as a location for filming in Game of Thrones). With thundering waterfalls, scenic national parks and magical geothermal spas, Iceland is a not-to-be-missed destination and with IcelandAir and WowAir opening up new routes and providing amazing stopover opportunities, the small Nordic island is now easier (and cheaper) to visit - even if you only get 48 hours in Iceland!
